Recently I got to know it's #worldsparrowday on 20 March. I was smiling to myself , how I can spot them so closely here. Even during my sojourn in Paris , I could spot them . But in Bangalore I never spotted one. Apart from crows and pigeons , I barely saw other birds in usual surroundings. Sunday after a hearty meal when the heart said "there was something amiss and I want just that plateful of chicken wings" , we headed to @bwwings in the neighborhood . This is a medium plate of 2 types of chicken wings , one with dry seasoning and the other half with sauce. We chose the hottest dry spice "desert heat" and 3rd hottest sauce "mango habanero". We got to order another choice of sauce in which we ordered the hottest of all #blazin The 14 pieces just finished in no time along with a #applecider & margarita each. Loved this place which I wanted to go go for sometime and finally yesterday after some walking around we could try it. I ordered for clams & love mein . One small plate & a big bowl respectively & we were both full. It was a perfect meal within $20 , which can be actually shared. Did I tell you about these fried dollar dumplings I am in love with. There are very few places left who serve these. This place has only 3 to 4 things to offer like fried dumplings, fried buns, hot and sour soup , tea & coffee. But easily a couple can have enough of these withinn $10. The perks of being a regular , I enjoy a smile of recognition and pay only after having your meal. They also pack neatly for the 'to go'. When our cousin visiting NyC this weekend requested to meet over a perfect #nycbrunch , I had a bigger task in hand. I had to find all I could about the #newyorkcity #brunchscenes. It is starkly different from what we know in India. Here most of the places serve either an entree or a main and stipulated hours of certain beverage, like sangria , mimosa or frozen margarita . It was a challenge to find a place where you get all the courses and also options for a boozy leisurely #sunday morning. There were places where the entree is separate and then one can pay certain $ to top up for bottomless beverages for 90 mins or 120 mins. Yesterday I was in a place which I shall term as the Disneyland for any one who loves to cook . Spices from all over the world under one roof. Variety is the spice of life ... Here variety is in abundance . If you love cooking and happen to be in #nyc this is a must visit just for the feel factor. You might be able to lay your hands on spices which you did not know they exist or can make life better. The shop started in 1944 as an armenian grocery store and then started keeping Indian spices to cater to the moving masses of Indians and now , it's a Mecca of spices. Visiting a parlor as regular as in Bangalore , might not be able to usual scene. But getting nails done is an essential scene here. I happened to be visit this other #beautysalon the other day. A lady came with her two daughters and even the kids got their nails cut filed and colored (multi colored). Once both the girls were done , the lady started her regime. The little one sat quietly with her lollipop given by the lady who did the manicure. She patiently waited with her fingers little stretched so that the nailpaint don't get smudged. In the usual place I go, I have seen elderly ladies in similar manner waiting for their turn , or something else sucking their lollipops. Life comes to a full circle , with time I guess. This is my favorite scene each time I take the #statenislandferry. On a day with fair weather and clear sky, the seagull accompany the ferry gliding, flying, along with the ferry. To me this is one of the most spectacular scene. The sky is mesmerizing too. Whenever my friends and acquaintances come to #nyc this is something I absolutely love showing. Today , it was a different evening . @themurdermysterycompany conducted a fun evening where we were all party to an impromptu session of solving a murder act !! Props, casting, theme, story - everything was perfect. The actors & actresses (all residents of our building ) suddenly started living breathing the characters they were asked to play. We are usually not that mushy mushy - have to go out on certain days kinda couple. But this time on #valentinesday2019 we went out to this #italian restaurant in the neighborhood , which my #indian friends in the apartment are very fond of and they are right , even we loved the place. Looked like one third of #secaucus was either dining there or waiting.
