I have never been very enthusiastic about sports. We were so many kids in the same house, that we mostly played indoors. However, at a very early age, my mom initiated us to 2 things cycling and swimming, which I now consider as life skills and still enjoy. I started, when my legs would not even reach the pedals and I still went out taking my father’s Raleigh, half-pedal as was the term used those days. As I reached Standard IV got my own cycle, BSA-SLR, later I got my Lady bird, which became part of my identity and witness to many teenage adventures.
About 6 months back we heard about this café called Ciclo (pronounced cheek-lo) in the heart of Indiranagar, 12th Main, amidst the residual green foliage of the city. I like going here for Sunday breakfasts, a little early so that I can still grab by table by the huge French Window, and sip coffee, while the city is still covered with the thin sheet of mist. On one occasion we have even rented a cycle from here and gone for a quick round. The ground floor of this place is very interesting for all those who are interested in cycles and cycling. It is a walk-in cycle store – where you can get various accessories and cycles on rent for the entire family. You can even spend your time over magazines and book.
It’s here you can get breakfasts like Marathi sabudana vada, anda bhurji aur paw, batata poha, eggs to order and waffles, pancakes, egg benedict, shakshouka. The shakshouka is a little different than the usual ways we know, so don’t be surprised
Among the pancakes – I love the Quinoa and honey. If you wish to try a savoury version – try the saddle bags (bacon, fried eggs, hollandaise).
I love ordering cups after cups of tea (earl grey, Darjeeling, English breakfast). I wish they introduce a potful of tea, for tea-companions like me.
