I was recently invited to a staycation at the Signature Club Resort, Devanahalli. This is a new addition to the Brigade hospitality conglomerate and set within Brigade Orchards, a 130-acre smart township.

Signature Club Resort offers exquisite spell binding 40 Executive and 5 Suite rooms to meet the needs of varied segments of travelers. The resort is a heavenly escape from the hustle bustle of the city offering its customers a “Green Carpet Experience”. This pristine environment is maintained because of the resort’s commitment to conserve and sustain the environment through many eco-friendly practices like rain water harvesting, solar powered lights, smart waste disposal and fresh plantations. The Signature Club Resort is also a boon to air travelers as it is located just 15 minutes away from BIAL.

Its an hours’ drive from my home and I reached around 3 pm which is their check-in time. The resort was packed and I was pretty surprised by the full occupancy. The crowd comprised of a mixed bunch of people – mostly families. There were young sports enthusiasts too. While I finished the check-in formalities and sipped on the welcome drink I quickly glanced around and was impressed by the resort.

The uniqueness of Signature Club Resort’s design is its attempt to replicate the traditional Mangalorean house. The lobby opens up to a beautiful two-tier veranda which resembles tree branches crafted in metal and Mangalorean tiles. The Veranda opens to a beautiful alfresco area on both sides and an ancient well which was a part of every household in ancient India.

My Executive room was on the first floor and overlooked the indoor swimming pool. I was resolute to take a dip and ended up in the pool on both days.

After freshening up I was given a tour of the property.

The resort is equipped with 2 conference rooms and a lawn.

Jasmine – A multi- purpose activity hall that can accommodate 30 guests at a time and is fully equipped with modern audio and video facilities to make meetings hassle free.

Silver Oak – A smart Banquet hall with fine décor to suit all occasions & gatherings and can accommodate 250 guests and hold big meetings and in-door events.

Silver Oaks Lawns – A plush landscape of 3500 sq. Ft that provides world class banqueting experience in a surreal surrounding. Custom made buffets and banquets set-ups can be designed and catered with cuisines from all over the world. The Silver Oak lawns can hold a floating crowd of 1000 guests.

Signature Club Resort satisfies the urge of sport fanatics with two badminton courts, lawn tennis court, billiards and pool tables, table tennis boards, a Squash court and a six-lane swimming pool It also has a full-size cricket stadium and I was witness to a match in progress.

The entire resort is filled with mango trees and for a moment I felt I was in a mango orchard.

The Club Resort provides solutions for health-conscious travelers with its ultra-modern gymnasium which is equipped with almost all the latest fitness equipment and also throws a lavish space for aerobics too. The gym overlooks a huge coconut plantation and am sure for those who love to spend time on the thread-mill it’s a welcome change to walk on these, keep an eye on the verdure and burn calories.

After the tour I was thirsty and headed to the “pavilion bar” for some quick mocktails. It’s small but quaint lounge bar and offers an international selection of liquors, liqueurs and mocktails in a classy ambience.

I also ordered for some snacks and asked it to be delivered to their courtyard Café. This café offers short eats, snacks, desserts and refreshing hot and cold beverages throughout the day.

Charged up with the food and mocktails I went for a plunge into the pool. The temperature-controlled pool is very clean, well maintained and open from 10am to 9 PM. The women’s changing room is well equipped with lockers etc.

For dinner I headed to Tamarind their all-day dining, 64-seater global cuisine restaurant offering a unique culinary experience with Indian and Continental dishes from across the globe. They also serve a buffet on weekends. I relished the moderate spread in the buffet dinner and retired to my rooms early. I read for some time and then called it a day.

Next day, I went for a quick walk around the same premise, it was nice to hear so many birds in the morning. I realized this is not so far from the city, yet because of the landscape it is home to such huge number of birds. Many of the families were already gearing to plunge into the pool so I told myself “give some time”. I enjoyed my morning cup of tea in the balcony adjacent to my room and gazed at the two Silver Oaks which adorned this small lawn leading to the pool. By the way, all the trees here are very nicely labelled with the common name and scientific names, which I felt was a nice way for parents to get their kids to know these trees.

I enjoyed a hearty buffet breakfast at Tamarind post which I again plunged into the pool. After this I had little time to come back, freshen up and pack my bags, as the check-in time was 12 noon. Once I checked out of the room, I hanged around the reception, checked out the grocery store (yes, they have a considerable sized grocery store inside, where you can find almost anything you need during a vacation or travel, you can even much on many snacks etc. too. So, if you have forgotten to get something – head here & am sure you will not feel guilty of not packing the same).

The staff here is super friendly and courteous. They are happy to be associated with this brand and property, and hence are ready to serve the guests happily. Special mention of Rahul and Rupa, they ensured that even after check out I don’t feel unwanted. She handed over the tab to ensure each of us gave our feedbacks.

Anything which does not need much effort is refreshing and that’s exactly what I felt when I reached this place. When you want to take a break from the household chores or the mundane routine, this is the perfect place within just an hour’s drive. This place is so close to home and yet easy to reach. The calm, quiet environment, solitude and soliloquy with oneself made me feel so refreshed. I did not feel that I was here for just one night. I shall love to go back to this place whenever I want to go out of the city.
