Spectacular Bengaluru Biriyani Club – S01E03

It all started with a new place to try – Biriyani for Breakfast   , since then there has been no looking back for Bengaluru Biriyani Club. A young foodie Renukesh created a group for the love of one food “Biriyani”, soon he was joined by 2 more friends Vinay – Navneeth & then these 3 Musketeers – with their passion, enthusiasm, contacts & constant endeavor to make this FB page into one of the biggest Foodies Club made this club into a 2K member group, in about 2 months.

My husband & I have had the pleasure of being part of all the 3 biriyani experiences. Each one is unique. The first trip was to Anand Dum Biriyani, Hoskote, followed by SGS (authentic donne biriyani). The third event was yesterday at Broadway Gourmet Restaurant, in HSR right beside Iblur army area. It was an event awaited for weeks now & proved to be absolutely worth the wait.

Among the 2K family 56-60 lucky members got to be part of the celebration. The occasion was graced by stalwarts like Suresh Hinduja, who I am sure needs no introduction & Nadir Aslam, who is known as the Biriyani Badshah of Bengaluru. The celebration started with a huge cake cutting, the cake’s topping was very interesting, followed by announcement of another admin Sumedha & then came the much-awaited spread.

There were 4 types of Biriyani – mutton, chicken, jackfruit & vegetarian – all cooked in a special method. They were cooked and served in 6ft long bamboo – it was spectacular, when they were brought forth to the dining table. The entire lunch package came at a very reasonable price, thanks to Broadway & BBiC.

The set menu had mint shikanji as welcome drink, followed by 2 starters, 4 types of biriyani & a dessert.

Foodies around Bangalore like Chef BB, Nameesh (fodyssey), Naveen (bangaloreepicure), Soumya Gopi (yougottatryit), Vidyalakshmi (vidyascooking) & others were present here.

I tasted all the biriyanis served yesterday, they were unique & perfect. They used high quality long grain basmati rice, it had the perfect moistness – yet not oily. For all our vegetarian friends – they had 2 options & am sure they were elated at this. The. entire menu curated by chef Tanvi Chandan, was a delight.

It was wonderful sitting close to Suresh Hinduja Sir & hearing about his food journey, about his different friends & acquaintances across the country (2 sisters serving the parampara thali,in Guwahati Assam; a young Zamindar in Ranchi who specializes in traditional Jharkhand food). He added that not only recipe, the key for right cooking are the ingredients, sourcing them from the right places. In this quest, he has a terrace garden for the herbs, to the Bengalis delight – he has a ‘gandhoraj’ tree as well.

So overall – it was a grand event! As Biriyani is such a wholesome food which people across the country or globe loves to eat – I am sure BBIC will keep growing. Please visit their FB page, join the group, become part of newer experiences.

As we still soak in the Biriyani event fervour – 3 cheers for Bengaluru Biriyani Club – Hip Hip Hurray!
