This weekend , we had a hearty lunch at Chubalas. On asking the meaning of the name the crew said the ‘queen’. They serve authentic Naga cuisine and Goan cuisine too. The place is mainly known for the Naga cuisine.
We ordered for a pork thali which comes with the chutney (now this is really hot, so beware) boiled vegetable, Dal (which have mashed potato), mashed potato with chopped onion, chilly & tomato, other accompaniments as you have ordered &plain steamed rice.
The chutney or the gravies are usually ‘very’ hot & hence the rice or base is bland.
Once you start having , you cannot speak before ending your meal. Such is the charishma of this cuisine.
The use of bamboo shoots & pork are wide in this type of cuisine. Initially when you enter this kind of cuisine place, there might be an unfamiliar odour, but gradually you will get used to it.
Our notion of Naga food is broken & infact we have started liking.
