As the month-long ritual of Ramzan comes to an end today, I am sitting and ruminating our iftar walks to mosque road, Koramangala, Sivaji nagar and Russel market.
So what did I do new this time – well , this time, apart from hopping around the street to try the festive food – I visited the “feast” at Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel for their special iftar menu (priced at 1700 plus taxes ).The special menu was till 14th Jun’18.
Initially I felt the place lacks the smokiness, the hustle and bustle, the queue, the push of the street food. Can this be a memorable experience, I said to myself. Then I realized, that there are many people who cannot visit MM road, Frazer town, Sivaji nagar. These people should also get a chance to try and immerse themselves in the festive mode.
The moment I entered the restaurant I realized they had successfully recreated the Ramzan charm. The best part was some chefs from the kitchen brought their home styled food to this elaborate fair which made the food even more relishing.
Right from different types of dates to break the fast, dry fruits, keema samosa, Gosht ka shorba, Dumb ka biriyani, beef curry, bhuna murgh, nalli nihari, haleem, shahi tukda (very different visual appealing) Champa Kali, balushahi, lacha doodh, zafrani phirni, chukundar halwa & Rabdi. Regional dishes like mutton liver pepper fry, Kerala chicken curry, beef roast, eralkuzhambu were also there. This was just like home cooked food!
For the price and the ambience, this was too good a deal.I will remember having done something different this Ramzan, apart from her usual visits to the iftar places of Bengaluru.
